Malta Office

Colin Micallef’s career started in 1989 when he joined HSBC Bank Malta plc formerly known as Mid-Med Bank Ltd as a bank clerk working in the accounts, cash and loans department. In 1995 he made a career change and joined Gollcher Co Ltd, a shipping company, as a marketing representative. In 1997 he decided to go back to the financial services industry and joined Lombard Bank Malta plc where he worked in the Foreign Exchange and Advances Departments and was later assigned to set up the operations of an agency.

It was during this time that he furthered his studies and obtained the Malta Banking Certificate. In 2000 he joined Rizzo Farrugia and Co (Stockbrokers) Ltd as an Operations Manager responsible for the Operations Department and later as an Investment Advisor. During this time he obtained the International Investment Advice Certificate together with the Certificate in Maltese Law for Financial Advisers.

In 2008, he joined FIMBank as a Customer Services Supervisor where he was responsible to provide support to the Head of Department and led a team within the section. In 2009 he joined Calamatta Cuschieri and Co Ltd as an Investment Advisor providing Investment Advice. Colin continued to consolidate his experience within the financial services industry in 2013 when he joined Timberland Funds as a Client Relationship Manager and later as an Office Manager heading the Maltese and Frankfurt office.

Dora started her career over 10 years ago in the catering industry and built her career up to a management role where she handled a local team in a leading catering company.  She continued her studies in accounting and she is now pursuing her career in the field of financial services.  She has moved on to take more finance related responsibilities, and in this role she is handling the day to day duties.  Her role include day to day accounting, handling tasks on behalf of the manager and preparing and submitting reports to assist in the workload.

She joined the Timberland Group in Malta in May 2022, where she occupies and fulfils the duties of Accounts Executive together with occupying the post as a P.A to the office manager.

Jennifer is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 25 years of experience in financial services.

She started her career with HSBC and moved up the ranks to hold various senior management positions within the Finance and Business Banking departments. Since leaving the bank in 2015, she has continued working in various facets of the Financial Services sphere; namely, Fund Management, Angel Investing and Securitisation.

She joined Timberland in August 2023 as Financial Controller of the group.

Denise began her career as an accounts clerk in 1996 were her duties covered both financial and clerical duties. In 1998, she decided to move to the stockbroking industry where she joined Rizzo, Farrugia & Co (Stockbrokers) Ltd as an Accounts Executive. After just a couple of months with the company, she acquired her trading licence, making her the youngest trader at that time at only 19 years of age. During her 24 years with the company, she progressively progressed and worked in various roles, and she was the main trader for the company for 15 years. 

Denise has now over 24 years’ wealth of experience in the financial and investment sectors and in May 2022 she joined Timberland Investment Ltd, Malta as Head Trader where she is responsible for setting up and running the Trading department.

Educated at St Edwards college, Michael spent the first 10 years of his working career as a Barclays Bank DCO official.  As he was involved in all departments, he obtained solid knowledge in the area of finance.

In the late seventies, he then briefly ventured into the building industry.

Subsequently, Michael took on the onerous task of introducing computers into the Maltese business community. He excelled in this field and by the time that the PC hit the market, the vast majority of business concerns were computerised, many through his expertise.

Meanwhile, in 1986 Michael took a new challenge by entering the insurance market forming his own company, which was a successful business in its own right.    

Presently, some 36 years later, he is still in the insurance business however, his business has been taken over by Timberland Invest Ltd. Michael is still very much involved in Timberland Invest Ltd, as he heads the insurance department.

Heathcliff Vassallo is the latest addition to the insurance team of Timberland Invest. He holds a CII Cert in Insurance, a Cert in Business and Banking and currently furthering his studies in the Financial services sector. He brings with him a wealth of experience from the insurance sphere having worked with some of the main insurance companies and brokers on the island and is well versed in all the aspects of insurance underwriting and claims handling.

Caroline’s career spans over 25 years starting out as a general office clerk with a financial institution and continued to develop her roles by working in insurance in the personal lines section with England Insurance Agency Ltd. She then continued her journey by working in human resources where she handled and coordinated key human resources tasks and projects. 

She decided to join Timberland Invest Limited in January 2023, and pursue her career as an Insurance and Operations Executive within the Company.

Pauline holds a Secretarial & Office Administration City & Guilds Diploma. She has worked in various industries including property development, manufacturing, retail and hospitality before joining Life Star Insurance as a TII. This has led her to finally join Timberland Invest in May 2023 as Front Office Administrator.
